What is Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecology?
Dr. Imbo received extra training to comfortably take cake care of children and teens of all ages. At SPARC, your child will receive age-appropriate gynecologic care in a welcoming environment.
Gynecology Isn’t Just for Adults
You don’t have to wait for a certain age to seek gynecological care.
Many parents are surprised to learn that children can need gynecologic care long before their period that their pediatrician or adult gynecologist may not be comfortable with. These concerns require an approach that considers both physical development and emotional well-being.
At SPARC, care is tailored to your child’s age, symptoms, developmental needs, and comfort.

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers
What to expect at the first visit? Will my child need a pelvic exam?
A gynecology appointment doesn’t automatically mean a pelvic exam. Most of the time we are simply talking. Dr. Imbo takes the time to make your child comfortable, understand their symptoms, and medical history. Dr. Imbo loves to educate and is passionate about helping kids and teens learn more about their bodies in an age-appropriate way.
If an exam is needed, the patient’s comfort is prioritized with consent and dignity. All steps are explained and the child is allowed to stop at any time. Our goal is to avoid any traumatic association with gynecologic care.
Can all gynecologists see children?
Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecology is a 2-year fellowship of extra training after OBGYN residency. Some gynecologists are comfortable seeing younger patients without fellowship training but may have restrictions on how young or certain complexities.
At SPARC, Dr. Imbo is comfortable seeing patients from birth to age 64!
Can parents stay during the appointment?
Of course! Dr. Imbo works with parents as a team for shared-decision making.
Teens do receive opportunities for private conversations about their health.
Does my child need a referral?
No referral is needed, and patients can self-schedule anytime. If desired, Dr. Imbo will attempt to coordinate care with your other doctors.
Do you accept insurance?
To allow for consistent care for everyone, SPARC does not bill any insurances. Visits are self-pay, see all pricing here. You may use your insurance for labs and medications. We also offer optional memberships for ongoing care.
Note: At this time, Dr. Imbo is unable to see patients with Medicaid or Medicare due to government laws around direct care.
